Robert E. Bolander, 89, of Findlay died at 2:42 PM Thursday, July 5, 2012 at the Bridge Hospice Care Center, Findlay. He was born on November 5, 1922, to the late Glenn Bert & Clarissa Emily (Pownell) Bolander in Findlay, OH. He married Beatrice C. "Bea" Bowe on September 16, 1944, and she preceded him in death on May 1, 2006. Robert is survived by a daughter, Sandra (Larry) Houck of Jenera; sons, Bob (Bonnie) Bolander of San Marcos, TX and Dan (Paula) Bolander of Jenera; sister, Clara Jane Youngs of Van Buren, OH; brothers: Joe (Carolyn) Bolander of Cincinnati and Paul (Janet) Bolander of Mt. Blanchard; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and six step-great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by an infant brother Glenn; an infant sister, Wilma; and brother, Elmer (Pat) Bolander. Robert was a 1941 graduate of Columbus Grove High School. He served his county proudly in the U.S. Navy Submarine Service. Robert worked as an electrician/maintenance supervisor for Garwood Ind. for 30 years and retired from O/I in Findlay. He was very proficient in many trades from restoring sports cars, woodworking, building boats (one built in the basement), building electronics, organs, TV's, models, built two homes, and many Christmas gifts. He also loved Bea the best 5151XXX (their secret code). The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at The Heritage for their loving care. Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, July 9, 2012 at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, Findlay, where visitation will be from 2:00-4:00 & 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 8, 2012. Pastor Jason Yost will officiate. Private burial will be on Tuesday, July 10, 2012 in Houcktown Cemetery, Jackson Twp., Hancock County, OH. Memorials may be made to Bridge Home Health and Hospice.
